SPOT Festival, one of the most anticipated and sought after events in Denmark is keeping its promise for the 25th anniversary by putting its best foot forward and showcasing a great selection of emerging and established talents in the Danish and international music industry.
Every year since its start in 1994, the organizers have planned a very busy schedule and this edition was no exception. With hundreds of acts and many interesting debates, people from across all age groups and nationalities get the chance to experience various musical genres.
On Thursday, May 2nd, the opening day, as the night got darker, people have started to fill the various venues selected for this event. The show stoppers for Aarhus Volume were the AV AV AV. Over the last few years, the band has played a lot of concerts, and the energy from the audience has inspired the group to write new songs with the live feeling as the core. The result is the extended play ‘Everything Is True’ (2019), where AV AV AV used vocals for one of their tracks – a first for them. The song ‘Love Without Reason’ features singer Jacob Bellens, and the entire EP is an upgraded version of the trio’s well-known spherical sound universe.
As the crew enters the stage, people start jumping and cheering out of excitement. The music plays, the bass hits the floor, and people can’t stop raving and showing off their dance moves.
AV AV AV is formed of 3 very talented DJ’s namely ELOQ, UNKWON, DJ E.D.D.E.H. The band was originally founded by the three DJ’s in a summer house: “We are good friends and we hadn’t made music before, and suddenly Martin suggested: ‘Hey! Let’s go to a summer house and take some time off!’ and then we took some music with us and that just happened…It all just happened very quickly. It wasn’t meant to be, but suddenly we were like: ‘This is what we are going to do”. ELOQ explains with amusement their unique name: “The same summer house trip, we were really drunk. In Danish, AV AV AV means Ouch! ouch! ouch! but it could also mean: ‘Uff! that’s nice… Oh! It’s good! It’s good!”.
The band is planning a new release: “We have been working almost ever since we started on our debut album and it’s expected to release somewhere between August and October. It’s all wrapping up now and we are all hyped about it”.
This is not the band’s first attendance at SPOT Festival. “It’s our 3rd time in SPOT, we love SPOT, it’s the 25th anniversary this year and it’s been an amazing place to come and enjoy new music, and it’s a new experience in a new kind of way”, says DJ E.D.D.E.H.
As the first day of the festival comes to an end, one of the members of the audience, Karin who is 67years old, feels very energized: “This is way fun! All that we gotta do is to turn up the tempo, keep moving and party all night. This is not the end after all!”.
