The Christmas market in Den Gamle By is finally open and the lights downtown have been turned on during Friday’s Christmas parade. So it is time to start saving some money for the fast approaching gift shopping. In that spirit, the guide for week 47 in Aarhus is focused on events that are either for free or really worth it spending some money on.

The American rapper with a great flow and a fast pace is in town and you have to go see him at VoxHall at 8 p.m. // 200 DKK

Rytmiske Koncertcaféer

Four very talented music students from the “Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium” will entertain you for free at the Rytmisk Sal inside HeadQuarters (Valdemarsgade 1, 8000 Aarhus C.). The show starts at 8 p.m.



In The Same Boat – Aarhus   


Panel debates on the topic of the refugee crisis. Scholars, social workers, refugees, media and different representatives of Aarhus’ civil society will attend and shed new light on Denmark’s role in all this. It starts at 4.30 p.m. at the FO-byen (Frederiksgade 78c).



#Lyden af Thy


Thy Music Collective and the Studenterhus present three live performances at Stakladen for only 50 DKK in the pre-sale. The bands are: Magnolia Shoals // This Is You // Artificial Brothers. The event starts at 8 p.m. at the Studenterhus (Nordre Ringgade 3, 8000 Aarhus)


Mount Rushmore Safari + Tin Can Telescope

This Copenhagen band corporation is definitely worth your time but also the 40 DKK they charge. The rock trio starts playing at 21:30 at Gyngen (Mejlgade 53, 8000 Aarhus C.)



A NEW DYNASTY – Created in China

A special exhibition portraying Chinese views of China is coming to ARoS. It will try to break with Western perceptions of the country. It also features a new monumental installation created for ARoS by the legendary artist and system critic Ai Weiwei. This exhibition lasts until 22.05.2016.


Aarhus Jazz Orchestra (Julekoncert)

The Christmas concert of the Jazz Orchestra in Folkestedet (Carl Blochs Gade 28, 8000 Aarhus C.). It is for free and starts at 2 p.m.


FINDERSKEEPERS Christmas Edition

The Design Christmas Market that has become such a popular event over the years, that you need to buy your tickets online at www.finderskeepers.dk. The doors in Godsbanen (Skovgaardsgade 3, 8000 Aarhus C) open Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. A one day ticket costs 50 DKK, a whole weekend ticket 70 DKK.


Flemming Borby

The Danish folk-pop songwriter that makes “music like in a film of Sofia Coppola” (Zitty) is here to present his new album “Somebody Wrong”. The show starts at 9.30 p.m. at Gyngen (Mejlgade 53, 8000 Aarhus C.). // 80 DKK.




Feel like letting out your inner viking at an Alka Superliga match between Aarhus GF and Brøndby? Then be at Ceres Park at 6 p.m., ready to chant loudly for Aarhus.



If a Danish band is compared to the likes of Coldplay, they should be good, right? Find out this Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Musikhuset in Aarhus. The tickets are rather pricey though. // 295 DKK
